Chinese app ban and present geopolitical scenario

On 29th June 2020 Indian minister of electronics and information technology, Mr. Ravi Sankar Prasad tweeted about the 59 Chinese apps banned in India citing the issues of safety, sovereignty, and security.
But geopolitical analysts from all over the world are considering it as the biggest ever move against the Chinese aggression in the South Asia region.
Since the last 40 years, India is being criticized by the entire globe for her defensive policy against China.
According to them, it is the prudent step that India has ever taken against China, and there are too many reasons for doing so:
1)India has realized that it is hard to sustain without  Chinese physical goods but quite possible to retaliate China in the field of the digital market.
2)India has more than  800 million internet consumers at the present time, for Chinese tech giants, India is a lucrative market so far.
3)In India 50 percent of smartphone users are below 25 years, they are very much hungry for online entertainment content. That is why India is a perfect market for apps like TikTok, Vigo, etc.
4) And last but not the least, in India the cost of the internet is one of the lowest and hence India is a perfect choice for digital business.

And if we keep the eyes on recent geopolitical development we can realize that it is the perfect time to take such steps, because:

1)For building up pressure in the Indo-Pacific region, India singed maritime pact with Australia and obviously, China is unhappy about that.
2)While China was busy with India for border issues, Japan silently changed the status of disputed Senkaku Island with China. This is huge set back for their foreign policy.
3) India is planing naval exercise with Japan for building more pressure on the South China sea.

4)Recently in the 36th season of the ASEAN summit, ASEAN countries recognized China as a threat.

5)  The USA is shifting its soldiers for counterfeiting China and increases the number of aircraft carrier along South
China sea.

6)And above all, the Chinese President Mr. Xi Jinping is facing domestic as well as political challenges in his own country for mismanagement of COVID19, unemployment issues, and recent set back at WTO.

So by taking such kinds of steps India is not only hurting china's soft power but also showing that India is changing its foreign policy regarding China.

  2. Indian government was almost silent against china on covid 19 issue. It is good to see that govt finally woke up.
Moreover banning Chinese apps is not enough. Chinese companies should be removed from our domestic infrastructure projects which are funded by central or state governments.

    1. Actually, I was also shocked by the government's silence. and if India wants a fruitful result from this move then our government should have stringent surveillance on both Chinese company and investment

    2. Our Cyber security policy is just a joke. Chinese hackers can enter in our systems anytime. Massive Cyber attack of Chinese hackers is one of the biggest threat for every country.
